Posted by: patrick3 | July 22, 2008 | 2 Comments |

On the first week of the holidays, I played in the Hamilton Gwynne shield competition. I was playing number 6. Our first game was against Morrinsville and we won 13-10. It was a close game but we just won by three points. The next game was against the Tigers. We knew that it was going to be a hard game so we all tried our best. We lost in the end by 15 points. The next game was against the Tritains who won the competition last year. By half time it was nil all but in the second half they got a try. The final score was 7-12 to them. Our next game was against North Waikato who lost last year. In the end we won 98-0 which was the best score in the whole competition. Our next game was against the Wasps. The game was close but we lost 19-20. We just made it into the final so we had to play the Wasps again. We lost 17-7 so we had to play of for 3 at Waikato stadium. In the end we came 3rd as we beet the Tritains on waikato stadium. Overall we all had fun and we ended up getting 2 trophies which were 3rd place and the best country team in the competition

Dog made to live in car

Posted by: patrick3 | July 2, 2008 | 1 Comment |

In Auckland a dog called Tiger has been made to live in a car. People have been complaining but the owners are saying that it is fine as there is food and water in the car. The dog is very old but the SPCA think that it is well looked after so they can’t lay charges as the dog has food, water and a bit of exercise. The dog has been in the car for nearly 2 weeks now without being out of the car so the local people around the area that the car is in have complained to the owners.

I think that the dog should be allowed to stay in the car but only if the owners let the dog out for exercise every day. I know that my dog gets exercise every day so all dogs should be treated the same. If people aren’t prepared to give their dog a run every day then they should of thought about having it when they first got the dog.

TA Devils vs TA Marist.

Posted by: patrick3 | July 2, 2008 | No Comment |

On the 22 of June, my team faced Te Awamutu Marist in a rugby match. It was the last of the grading games so we had to win it if we wanted to be in pool A. We knew that we were going to beat them as a team who we had beaten had beaten them so we were very confident when we walked on to the field. Reed was sick so I had to play centre not flanker but I still like playing centre. We stated off strong but we lost concentration and started to play really bad but in the end we still won overall and are now into pool A for rugby.

2008 Waikato Field Days

Posted by: patrick3 | June 20, 2008 | 3 Comments |

Last week on Friday, me and my dad went to the 2008 Field Days. I was so excited because I hadn’t been in 2 years so I was going to enjoy myself. We woke up at about seven so we could get a car park. we got there at about 8:30 and the gates opened at nine. The first thing we did was watch the Agg Art as my sister and her friend was in it. They did a really cool dress but they were protesting against battery chickens so they couldn’t let them win as the Field Days is all about farming. After that we went to get some chips and nuggets for lunch. It was really cool because we could split up because we had our walkie talkies so I went and brought a dog whistle, a stress toy, some lollies and allot of other sweets and toys. We  met back up at one to go and have some more to eat as my dad is a mechanic so he got free food from his work. The food was really yummy consisting of a filled roll, a muffin and some orange juice. After our snack, we went to get my mum some slippers as every year my dad gets her some but they ran out of possum slippers so we got some sheep skin slippers. The end of the day was near when we met up with my cousins and Nana so we stayed a bit longer and played some soccer and watched the motocross which was the most exciting.

The day was really fun and it was really fun as it was just me and my dad.

Te Awamutu Devils vs Eastern Suburbs

Posted by: patrick3 | June 16, 2008 | 1 Comment |

On Saturday we played Eastern Suburbs in rugby. We all were early and they were late so we had some time to warm up. When we got given our jerseys, they gave me number seven (open side flanker) so I was really looking forward to play as it is my best position.

We lost the toss so they chose to kick off. We were playing really well until our backs lost the ball and they got the first try. We were all worried because in all of the other games we had played, we had scored first. By half time the score was very close but we had lost the ball quite allot. In the second half we came out very strong and scored two tries in the first 10 minutes so the score was 32-12 to us. In the last 10 minutes Mitchell and I scored a try and Mitchell kicked it which put the final score at 39-12 to us but we should have got more as they had lost games and we hadn’t. At the end  of the game, we went to Angus’ house and had dinner and watched the All Blacks win against England so we stayed until about mid night so I was really tired the next day. Overall I think that I played a really good game as I tackled someone SO hard that I made him cry

Te Awamutu Devils Vs Frankton Black

Posted by: patrick3 | June 12, 2008 | 1 Comment |

Last weekend my team (the Devils) played the top team in our rugby grade (Frankton) who won their last game 115-0. We were all early for the game and started warming up. When the other team arrived we were all in shock as they had one person who weighed 80 kilograms. I was playing number 6 (Flanker) so I was going to have to tackle the big guy. Unfortunately we lost the toss so we had to kick of the game. The ball went straight to one of their forwards so I tackled him, but it was a bit to high. They got a penalty and kicked it out. After a while, we got down to their 22 and they got a scrum. They were about to kick it but I charged it down and scored a try. We were all really stoked that we were winning but I was even happier as it was my first try of the year. Our winning streak didn’t last long as they got a try so we were both on five points. Half time came really fast so we all had a break and talked our game plan over. They kicked off and straight away we got a try. All we had to do was not let them get a try and we would win. They were in our five metre mark when they started to punch Mitchell in the head and got a try. The reff didn’t see the punches and awarded the try. Even though we drew with them, we were all happy that they didn’t beat us.

Our arrival- Christmas

Posted by: patrick3 | June 12, 2008 | 1 Comment |

Boredom filled my mind as I looked out the car window. We were all packed in like sardines, but I knew it was all worth it as it was the best time of the year; Christmas. Slowly we got closer to our destination we all longed for; the wonderful beach. As the car turned into the car park, we all jumped with joy as our long journey was finally over, we had arrived.

Doors shot open and a stampede of anxious children stumbled out of the car. You would have thought it was about to blow up. Cheers were floating through the air and children were all in the water in the blink of an eye. Salt water filed my hair as I dived into the refreshing sea which took the wind out of my lungs. We all played for about 30 minutes. It was time to unpack the cars so we all rushed down the road to the batch.

The batch was exactly how we left it last year, abandoned with no movement at all. Firstly we unpacked all of the junk foods such as fizzy drinks, ice cream and of course chocolate, but Nana had made sure she’d packed some fruit. We then selected which beds we were going to sleep in as first in first serve. I managed to get one of the top bunks (not on the floor) which was a bonus. My sister managed to find the surfboards hiding away in the rusty old bike shed covered in spider webs. Boogie boards were also hiding away in the garage which I found and headed back down to the beach with my two cousins.

We’d all had enough of the beach so we decided to go and get some fish and chips for dinner which was located on the main street. Amongst the main street was the Warehouse and my favourite dairy. We all waited outside the fish & chips shop and played a game of I spy. There were lots of palm trees down the side of the road where we were, with neatly trimmed roses scattered behind them. On the other side of the road was a big grocery shop standing out from a never ending grass field, stretching to the golden sand of the beach.

Finally we received our order from the ginger haired shop receptionist who thanked us for shopping at Herlys which was the name of the shop. We ate at the park behind the grocery shop. Slowly we staggered back to the batch ready to play till midnight. Everything was going awesome but then we heard the bad news, our uncle’s girlfriend had had an accident so they couldn’t come. We were all disappointed that they were not coming but we decided to put it behind us as nothing was going to ruin our holidays at the beach. Everything was going so fast as one day of our holidays was already gone. We decided to go to bed sharing what we had all done, slowly my eyes fell shut.

What A Game!!

Posted by: patrick3 | June 1, 2008 | 1 Comment |

Last night the Crusaders and the Waratahs played for the Super 14 cup as it was the final.  The first points were scored by Daniel Carter (Crusaders) from a penalty kick. We were all excited that the New Zealand team was winning but not for long as the Waratahs scored two try before half time. At half time the score was 12-6 to the Waratahs but the Crusaders weren’t going to break their winning victory of six out of seven Super 14 wins. The Crusaders came out very strong but so did the Waratahs. But then the crusaders got a try but it was not allowed as their was a fight with…………… going of from a yellow card. The Crusaders got two more tries and a field kick before the end of the game putting the Crusaders in front as the final score 20-12 to the crusaders. It was a very close game but the best team won by far as the Crusaders rule!!! Oh and the Waratahs are an Australian team so it makes a even better win. I think the player of the day was Daniel carter as he had allot of pressure on him to do well and he did. GO THE CRUSADERS!!!!!
