Waikato fights back!!
Posted by: patrick3 | August 31, 2008 | 1 Comment |On Saturday Waikato and the chiefs played their weekly rugby games. Waikato played Auckland and at Waikato Stadium. They needed to win this game so they all came out strong. In the end they smashed Auckland 34-13. The first points were scored by Auckland first five-eighths Lachie Munro as he kicked an easy penalty in front of the sticks. At half time the score was 17-8 to Waikato. The end score was 34-13 with Waikatos Donald playing outstanding scoring one try, 2 penalties and 4 conversions.

Over to the Chiefs game. They played the Panthers. In the end they won 45-? with the Panthers defence crumbling against the Warriors attack. On the same day I played my last Saturday rugby game against Hamilton Marist White in Hamilton. I played wing for the game but I wanted to play Flanker as it is my favorite position. In the end we lost 5-17 but I was happy because I scored the only try for our team. The only thing I was unhappy about was that I didn’t get player of the day and everyone else did. And to top it off, they didn’t even give one out on the last game.
Inter-Intermediate Cross countrey
Posted by: patrick3 | August 24, 2008 | 1 Comment |On the 21 of August, a group of 28 students from Te Awamutu Intermediate travelled to Porrit Stadium in Hamilton to compete in the national Inter-Intermediate school cross country. We all got there at about 9:00 and found a spot to sit for the day. Up first was the year seven girls. Megan Bethell went really well and ended up winning her race. Next up was the year seven boys. The best place in it was 24 for our school. Thirdly was the year eight girls which also we didn’t win but got 23. Lastly was my race, the year eight boys. Last year I got third so I was aiming to get better. We all went for a light warm up around the stadium and lined up on the start line. READY………………………..SET…………………………BANG! The clapper went off and everyone sprinted off into a narrow gap between a pair of trees. When we came out of the first corner I was coming around tenth so I started to pick up my pace. When we reached the second lap I was in seventh (and covered in mud) and Ried was way behind me so I was happy as he beat me at our school compertition. We came around to the muddyest part of the course when disaster struck. I slipped into a deep whole and lost three places putting me in tenth. I was really angry because there was only two more corners to go. In the end I managed to pass one person putting me in 9th place. When I got my placing down they told me that I had been put up to seventh as two people were caught cutting the track so I was happy. In the end I beat Ried by ten places so I was really raped. After the races we found out that our year seven girls ended up 2nd and our year eight girls 3rd.
Cross-Country.
Posted by: patrick3 | August 15, 2008 | 2 Comments |On Wednesday the 13th of August, our school had our annual Cross-country competition. Last year I got first and 3rd at the waikato’s. This year I knew that it was going to be hard as everyone had been training allot. The race for the year eight boys started at ten past two as all of the other age groups were to be held before my race. At 2:00 we started to warm up and do some stretches before going to the start line. READY………..GO!!! The clapper went and everyone started to bolt in a mad panic. I was about 3rd out behind Campbell and Kuta. We all came around the first corner, squeezing through a narrow pathway. After a while I started to puff, well not just puff, wheeze. I managed to get into first at half way by Reid was right behind me. We came down the ally way and I could hear him right be hind me. I imagined that he was a lion about to ponce on me which made me sprint. At about 500 meters to go, Reid made his move, he had been waiting all this time right behind me. He finally past me and sprinted, I followed him but he was just to quick, he bolted and won the race.
At the end of the race I congratulated Reid and went to the placings desk.
The race was really close but in the end I got second which is the first time in my time at school.
Te Awamutu Devils Vs Hamilton Marist
Posted by: patrick3 | August 10, 2008 | 1 Comment |On the 02-08-08 we played Hamilton Marist at TAS rugby grounds. We all knew that it was going to be a hard game as they hadn’t lost a game. We all got there at about 9:40 as our game started at 10:00. As the other team arrived, we all got our shirts and I was center. We started strong and scored the first try putting it at 10-12 to them at half time. Our couch talked to us about staying focused which helped us as we won 17-15.
Yesterday we also played a game of rugby game against Hamilton Marists other team. They only had 13 players so we had to play with no flankers so I had to play lock and wing. The field was really muddy which didn’t help as we wanted to get a bonus point by getting 4 tries. We came out strong and by half time the score was 10-0 to us. I was playing really good with heaps of tackles in. In the second half we got another try. Ried came close to scoring twice but luck wasn’t on his side and we only ended up getting 3 tries and they got one try at the end . The final score was 15-5 to us.
Design
Posted by: patrick3 | July 29, 2008 | 1 Comment |This term my class (room 3) is in design for Tech Arts. So far we have made L.E.D and buzzer systems. For every one who is wondering what design is, it is based on electronic and wood. I am making a wooden box right now. Last term we were in Fabric were we all made a tennis ball, a wind sock, a sweat shirt, soccer balls and a teddy bear. My favorite Tech Art is food as we get to make what ever we want and now that the new Tech Art block is in, it is really flash. The final Tech Art subjects at our school are Music/ Dance and science which are really fun. Yesterday was the official opening of the Tech Arts block which went really well with lots of guests.
